Comprehensive Color Theory for Cardmakers builds on the basics from Introduction to Color Theory with a quick recap of primary, secondary, and tertiary colors, then dives deeper into hues, tones, tints, and shades and how they impact your card designs. We’ll revisit monochromatic and analogous color schemes with dedicated videos, including an easy-to-remember look at the 60/30/10 (gallon–pint–quart) rule for balanced color distribution.
You’ll also explore the psychology of color, learn how to create contrast and neutral designs, and see both concepts in action through example videos. The class continues with warm vs. cool color exercises, color glazing, and shading with complements, followed by a double-complementary (tetradic) design video. We’ll finish with a wrap-up day and live stream, bringing everything together and answering your questions.
