I am a colorist. Coloring makes my heart so happy. But sometimes No-Line coloring can be really overwhelming. When that happens, I grab my secret weapon. Stencils. Thankfully, Pinkfresh has stencils for almost every stamp 🙂
I stamped the Print Shop Modern Botanicals in Ballet Slipper Ink. I typically look for a light ink that works with the other colors I intend to use. In this case pinks works with both the green and yellow I used. Then it’s easy to line up the stencils and add my ink blended color. You can add as much or as little shading as you like with the ink blending. Once the ink blending is done I have the perfect base to go in and add extra dimension with either markers or colored pencils.
To add some texture and interest to the background I stamped the large floral from Always Smiling in white on my card base. I then heat embossed it with white embossing powder. I used the Dotted Fancy Frames to cut several white frames and a large vellum piece. I stacked the frames and added the vellum piece sandwiched between them. This allows the vellum to hover over the surface and left our florals.
I used the same stacking trick with the sentiment to give it a little lift and then accented it with some rhinestones. This is so bright and fun! I know it feels more like Summer probably because I’m not ready to let it go! You can see the entire process in the video below.
