It was so hard to choose what I wanted to create with! BUT Those Big & Bold Designs have always had my heart. I just couldn’t pass up the Bad to the Bone set. I do have plans to use Eudora later this week!
I knew right away I wanted to make this skull glow. I went back and forth on what color to use but the green ultimately won out. I stamped the skull three times. Once on masking paper and twice on A2 sized cardstock panels. I used my MISTI to make sure the skull was stamped in the same place on both panels.
I fussy cut my mask and applied it over the stamped skull on one of the panels. I added shading with ink blending starting with Twisted Citron, then Mowed Lawn, Rustic Wilderness, and finally Black Soot. Once I get out to the edges with Black Soot, I blend back through the colors from darkest to lightest.
With the mask still in place I inked up the Halloween Quick Card with Rustic Wilderness Distress Ink. Distress ink isn’t the smoothest to stamp with but in this case it actually helps us out by being a little distressed and spooky. I then removed the mask and got to coloring!
I used cool grays to color the skull and warm grays to color the worms. Since I knew the glow would coming from the open eyes, nose and mouth I added a bright green glow around those areas as well as to the worm bodies that face the center of the face. In order to make this skull actually glow we are going to need to some surgery.
I used a healing mat and an Exacto style knife to cut out the eyes, nose and sides of the mouth. To get a smoother cut turn your paper as you slide the blade. In order to give the smoothest look you can run a black marker along the inside cut edges.
Once we have those areas cut away we can start getting our elements together for the light up element. I color some vellum with green alcohol markers to help diffuse the glow. I also color those areas green on our second stamped panel.
I chose to use Twinkle Lights but you could also use the E-Z Light for a constant light instead of flashing ones. Each of these has three separate strands. I separate them so there is one behind each eye and the nose on our second stamped panel. I tape them in place. I also adhere the light base with the battery to the chin. I adhere the vellum to the underside of the colored panel. Last we attach the two panels together with the World’s Best Foam Tape. This tape is already triple thick specifically for cards like this.
Pressing the bottom of the skull’s chin light’s up everything. I couldn’t resist turning off all the lights and turning it on!

Just watched Kelly Taylor Youtube video. The coloring of the skull was amazing and the light up feature made it even cooler. This is the first time I am finding this company. I will for sure be ordering, Halloween is my favorite holiday.

sorry I forgot to tell you my favorite treat– As much as I like candy, my favorite is taking my grandkids treat or treating at the church and around!! I make little treat bags for them and I love to see their little faces light up!! But for the candy-as of now it Nerd Clusters!! I ordered the skull and anxious to play with it!!

My favorite treat is mini Snickers’ bars. I love the Lovely Legs collection. I have used them in prior years and I am glad there is another one. I make about 30 Halloween cards for grandchildren and friends. Love the lighter skull! Wonderful idea!
