Hero Arts Studio December 2024 Blog Hop

Honestly, this has to be one of my favorite studios Hero Arts has released. I love all of these so much!! Butterflies, Rainbows, It’s all so Whimsical! Today I chose to use the inks from the Card Kit and the Cling Stamp of the Month to create 4 cards with zero waste!

I started by stamping my cling stamp onto watercolor paper in Unicorn Pigment Ink after I treated with my anti-static tool. I then used my MISTI to stamp the image twice just to make sure I got good coverage. Once stamped, I sprinkled on white detail embossing powder and then heat set it.

I used the reactive ink reinkers included in the Card Kit to do a watercolor emboss resist. First I added clean water to my paper and then I dropped in some color from each of the reinkers. For more intense color use less water, for lighter color add water. This came together so easily. If your colors mix in a way you don’t love just blot it up with a paper towel and try again. It’s a very forgiving technique. this watercolor panel is cut to 3×3.

You can let your panel dry naturally or speed up the process with a heat tool. I am impatient, I used the heat tool lol. Once dry I used my alcohol markers to add bolder color to just the rainbows in the background. If you get any unwanted color on your heat embossing just go over it with your colorless blender. Scribble the color off your colorless blender on a scrap piece of cardstock frequently so you don’t redeposit the color. This watercolor panel is 3×4. It creates a 1×3 leftover piece.

In order to add some interest to the clouds I used White Acrylic Spray with a paint brush and a little water. You can change the opacity by adjusting how much water you add. I just went in and randomly paint portions of the clouds to add interest. This watercolor panel is 1.5 x 5.5. If you only wanted three cards you could use this panel on a horizontal card and you would have no waste. However, if you use it vertical it leaves you with a 1.5x 1.25 piece.

This card is definitely more collage style combining the two smaller piece we had leftover along with a larger sentiment to complete the card. Since all of stamps in the Hero Arts Cling Subscription are 6×6 you could technically make these for layouts every single month switching up the coloring medium or technique. I call that a win!
