Looking at the stencils I knew A. I wanted to do something bright and vivid in the background and B. that I wanted a layered scene. I did a few things to create this look.
First, I ink blended my sun and then masked it to create the sky. Sunrise? Sunset? You decide 🙂
Once my sky was done I flipped the A stencil over to create a cropping of stones further out. I just used a darker purple ink for this. Super simple and this way the stone cropping isn’t identical. It gives the card more interest. I also used Hero’s White pigment ink to apply the clouds right over my inked background.
I then got to work on the actual focal point. I layered several colors over each stenciled area. Don’t be afraid to add your own shading even to a color layering set. Make it your own! You can also mask off areas to change colors up like I did using the blue/violets for the rocks and browns for the ground. Once all my inking was done I used the coordinating to cut out my scene and pop it up on foam over my background. A little bit of shimmer was added along with white gel highlights and a heat embossed sentiment! I think this card would be perfect for a friend was is moving or a graduate off to new adventures!
