I challenged myself to use a different color combination than my usual fall colors. I looked over my inks and selected a few to pair together. Did you know you can custom color cardstock by using your ink pads?
I used the Charming Stitched Florals on some Pebble BetterPress Cotton Paper. I wanted to try out the press plates on the cover plate both before cutting the plate and after. Both ways worked well! I also used the Elongated Ovals Dies to cut out the inside of one panel so I could create a second card with the negative.
I die cut all of the flowers from Garden Party several times. In order to get the exact color die cut I wanted I used my ink pads and went direct to paper. Sometimes it can be challenging to get into the embossed grooves. I use my blender brushes to really work the ink in. Remember, the colors will look darker until they dry.
I added a little bit of shading to the flowers with some alcohol markers and then finished off the centers with gold pearls. The sentiments were heat embossed in white. If you are white heat embossing I recommend inking up the cardstock first, letting it dry completely and then heat embossing on top. Some of the darker colors can stain the heat embossing.
