Hello Crafters!
Tis the season for Winter scenes, and this one is super fast thanks to a little help from die cutting.
If you’ve been around here before you know I’m a firm believer in stretching your supplies and getting the most out of them. With that in mind take a look at our glacial landscape. It’s actually a Seashore die. That’s a beach!! Picket Fence has two different ones I chose the slimline version for this card so the land, or shore, area would be large enough to accommodate my igloo but they also have an A2 size.
Over the summer I used the A2 size for my card background here. If you’re looking to warm up you can check out the video for this one here. Now, back to our winter wonderland..
I die cut my background from white cardstock and then went in with a little ink blending. I wanted the sky to fade from a blue violet to a pink. Consequently I made the water the same colors as it would reflect the sky. I also shaded my snow with a bit of blue violet. My favorite for shading snow is Shaded Lilac but you could also use a blue.
I stamped my characters and elements out and then went in with my OLO markers to add my color. In order to keep my color scheme consistent I used blue violate markers to add the shading to my igloo and the mountains. Then just picked out some bright fun colors for my penguins outfits. Once the coloring was done I die cut my images out and got ready to assemble.
I glued my elements down flat and then went back in with my snow colors to add some shading underneath them. Doing this grounds the characters helping them to look like they aren’t floating off lol. I then added some cute little footprints in the snow to add to the whimsical feel. A little bit of splatter snow over the top of the card finished the scene out.
You can see the whole card come together in the video below.
Don’t forget today is the last day for the OLO sale over at Picket Fence Studios.
It’s also the last day to save 25% off Glassboard Studios Glass Mats with code Kellytaylor25 My glass mat is a custom design I created by they have really great options to choose from as well as simple classic colors if that’s more your style.
Thanks so much for stopping by! I’ll be back soon with another winter scene!
