I used the Classic Kit for my projects today but I really love the elements included in the Premium kit.
I already love the Sparkle Lacquer pen and those gold flakes amazing! However I went with a prism rainbow ink blending style for today’s cards and I have no regrets!
I knew I wanted to do a rainbow of colors with the floral stencil from the kit. My first attempt got really buddy really fast as I was layering too many colors over top of each other. Because of that my next attempt I just layered the same colors over top of each other for all the layers.
I loved how the colors layered on top of each other creating this soft prism rainbow effect. However, I didn’t love the lack of contrast. Everything seemed to kid of mush together. Enter the drama, lol. I went back in and outlined some of the elements in black to create contrast.
Then I decided to just commit to coloring the entire background black. Which actually didn’t take too long because the flower stencils pretty much fill up the majority of the background. In order to get a 2 for 1 out of the background I used the fancy die in the kit to die cut a heart out of the upper middle.
I did a third card using the same type of ink blending and just one stencil. You can really pick up on that prism vibe in the center of the heart. Which is hands down my favorite part of the card. Coloring the stripes black did take more time than the first background.
Once I had all the coloring done I went in and die my die cutting. The Heart Burst Stencil doesn’t have a die, however, the Infinity Heart Dies have one that is a near perfect match so I used that. Once the die cutting was done I taped my pieces back together from the back to add my glitter paste.
I know glitter isn’t for everyone and that’s cool, but it is definitely for me! I chose just one layer for the flowers and then added it to my heart stencil off center so the black has more of the glitter than the color. Just to create a different look.
I heat embossed my sentiments in white on black and then trimmed them out by hand. I varied building my cards from multiple layers of cardstock, to flat, to foam tape. I love having all the different levels!
You can see all three cards come together in the video below.
These girls sure do sparkle! I hope you’re inspired to try rainbow ink blending soon.
Your next stop on the hop is the extremely talented Essie.
Thanks so much for stopping by!
