Hero Arts is generously giving away a $50 gift card, drawn from the comments left across the hop. Enter by Sunday, December 10th at 11:59pm Pacific, and the winner will be announced on the Hero Arts blog the following week.
I chose to use the Classic Kit for my cards today because I just loved that alphabet die. I’m going to use it as a complete background today but you could absolutely use it to create your own sentiments. The font is so great!
When I first saw this month’s kits I immediately though they would be great for teacher thank you’s or children’s birthday cards. Since that was my first instinct I decided to embrace it. I wanted really fun bright colors in the background.
I decided to use my Hero Arts Metallic Sprays to quickly and easily get great color and coverage. Plus, the shimmer is amazing! I chose to do rainbow in a diagonal but you can do any pattern you like. I started spraying my watercolor paper in the top left with the Fuchsia and ended in the bottom right with Royal Purple.
Once I dried it down I ran it through my die cutting machine. Instead of popping all my letters out I left them in side the background. I laid the background facedown on my desk and popped any letters that may have fallen out back in. I then added liquid adhesive on the back of the letters and pressed a piece of black cardstock to the letters to adhere them exactly as they are in the die. If you have any letters that move on you or don’t want to stay in you can secure them on the front with low tack tape before adding your glue.
For the negative piece leftover I added adhesive and then adhered it to another piece of black cardstock. I also filled in the inside of the letters. I felt like the cards were a little unfinished so I decided to add a black frame to each to switch up the look.
The sentiments are both from the new add-on set Message Basics. They were heat embossed in white on black to help them stand out. These are so shimmer and gorgeous in real life. I just couldn’t get it to show up in the pictures unfortunately.
Thanks so much for stopping by! You next stop on the hop is my amazing friend Emily Midgett.
Happy Hopping!
