Colorado Craft Company Winter Release Blog Hop: Shadow Box Scene

It was so hard to choose which set to go with first but ultimately I’m a dog lover and this sweet pup won me over. I’ve done a lot of scene cards in my time so I though I would do something different and create a shadow box scene card. This mischievous pup looks like he could very easily be startled by someone looking in the window so that’s what I created.

I started by stamping and coloring my puppy dog scene using my copic markers. I used a ruler to create a decorative sign that hold my sentiment in the scene. I also used the elements from Christmas Obsessed to create a wall garland and the two cuties in the window.

I cut a piece of cardstock at 61/2 x 5 1/2 and scored at a half inch, 3/4 of an inch, and 1 inch. I then used my rounded rectangle die to cut out the window in the center. I used additional rectangles to cut out the matching window frame in gray. I adhered my acetate sheet after adding a bit of “frost” with some white pigment ink on the inside of it. I then added my window sill and mice.

Before I added the window frame I added a bit of snow to it using my Paper Glaze. Once this was dry I adhered it to the card front. I reinforced my scored lines by folding them in a “zig-zag” fold to act as a spring and then adhered it to my card base. A spatter of Copic Opaque with over the top made it appear to be snowing.
