Shockingly, This sweet Kitty from Bake Me Happy sucked me right in. I’ve always been Team Dog but those glasses. Stop it! Too Cute. To absolutely no ones surprise I made a scene card however I did make it a no line coloring scene because I like to keep you on your toes ha!
The Baking Background made the perfect kitchen wallpaper. I second generation stamped it to give it a softer more vintage feel. I then added some soft ink blending around the edges and added some depth with monochromatic blues for my shading. The wood counter was created by just making wavy and swirly lines with some browns to give a wood grain texture. I have a very old but still useful video tutorial on wood grain if you’re interested in learning more about it.
I stamped all my elements is a soft gray ink. I did stamp it twice to make sure I’d be able to see the lines. I colored all the images with copic markers before cutting them out with their coordinating dies. I knew I was going to pop up my die cuts so in order to make it easier on my self I glued them to each other with liquid glue first and then added the foam tape on the back as if all the pieces were one.
I personally don’t love the white outline of a die cut. Especially in a scene card where the outlines break up the scene. I use my copic to blend in the edges to make a cohesive scene. I also added shadows under the items on the counter. I real star of this card though is the white gel pen. It allowed me to keep the kitty’s whiskers, add highlights to the glasses and bowl, and create a realistic looking whisk. I’m telling you if you don’t have one you NEED it. You can get a three pack for under $5 and it will really step up your cards I promise.
I just love the way this sweet kitty came out. You can see the entire card come together in the video below. Your next stop on the hop is the fantastic Koren Wiskman
