The New Hero Arts Studio Kits Release: Fancy Gate Fold Card

I chose to work with the Clear Stamp & Frame Cuts along with the add on Garden Gate Coverplate. These were perfect to do a fun gatefold card.

I started by scoring a 5.5 x 8.5 piece of cardstock at 4.25. I then lined the Garden Gate Coverplate up on the right hand side of the score mark and ran it through my die cutting machine. I cut an additional Garden Gate Coverplate out of silver foil paper.

I cut another piece of cardstock to 5.5 x 5.25 and scored it at 4.25 as well. I laid my Garden Gate Coverplate die cut piece over top, lining it up to the left of the scored line and traced the arch and the cobblestones. I chose to go back over the cobblestones with a copic safe black pen to match my black stamping.

I stamped the pavement just above the cobblestones we traced. Using masking and ink blending I created a sky and some grass. I stamped both pigeons and the birdbath onto another piece of white cardstock. I colored them with copic markers. While I add my markers out I colored the pavement, cobblestones, and added some grasses to my background.

After I colored the images I die cut them using their coordinating dies. Once I glued them down to the background I used the similar colored markers to blend the white outline into the scene. A simple Hello greeting was stamped in the sky.

To create the Gate fold I added adhesive to the right hand side of the scored line on my background and attached it to the card base by folding it over the back. This allows the background to open from left to right. I adhered my silver foil die cut over top of the cardbase lining it up with the Garden Gate Coverplate we cut from there. Then reinforced all my score lines with a bone folder.

This gives a really fun peek-a-boo effect as if you’re walking into the garden through the gate. I love how it came out! Plus you still have the inside to keep your message to the recipient private. You can see the whole card come together in the video below
